Incorporate Your Sales Process With Odoo and Lean Easy

Odoo is a useful tool for supporting many business processes. However, on occasion, an established business process is not compatible with the way in which Odoo facilitates. One example of this is the sales process.

We helped our client overcome this issue by creating the Sales Order Extended module.

The Challenge

Our customer asked us for some help. They had an established process for sales which was tried, tested and proven by those within the company. Although Odoo supports sales processes, it didn't work in a way which allowed them to continue using their process how they desired.

The Solution

We built the Sales Order Extended module for Odoo to help our customer overcome this issue. The module lets the customer use the Odoo platform in a way that works for their process, rather than having to adapt their process to the default Odoo process.

Ultimately, this meant that our customer could bring another business process into Odoo, streamlining their sales and speeding up admin tasks.

How it Works

We developed the module to adapt the default behaviour of the Odoo sales process.

Firstly, we added more states in order to allow sales to be ‘awaiting payment’ and ‘awaiting confirmation’. We also removed the quotation state because the customer was using a dedicated enquires module which we had also developed.

We made the forms included in the module easier to work with and flow naturally with the customer’s processes. A pop up has also been included for product line items to allow our customer to enter more information such as acknowledgement dates.

Finally, we added a feature for new sales orders that allows users to copy the sale order lines from a previous order - making the process considerably quicker.
