Microsoft Office is a common tool in many businesses and for good reason. The suite of tools is well established as simple to use and offers the functionality that many office workers need to complete their day-to-day duties.
However, our customers found themselves having to leave Odoo in order to view Microsoft Office files. We changed this by rolling out the Microsoft Office Preview Module.
The Challenge
Our customer would regularly attach Microsoft Office documents to records within Odoo. This is a great way to store these files. However, with no way of previewing the file, it made accessing them both tricky and time-consuming. Rather than being able to open the file from within Odoo, the user would have to download the file, leave Odoo and open it in Microsoft Office.
We were challenged to make this process smoother and quicker.
The Solution
So, we built a specialist module that would allow Odoo users to preview Microsoft Office documents such as those created in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. This removed the need for the user to download and leave the Odoo platform to view crucial information.
Ultimately, this module saves Odoo users a considerable amount of time in the long run.
How it Works
The module works by making it simple to view Microsoft Office files in Odoo. Simply click on the file in the attachments from the chatter and it will open a window. This window can display a preview of Excel, PowerPoint and Word documents – similar to how PDFs are viewed.
